Since before I could walk I had a fascination with horses, much to my parents horror, I think. If there was a horse around, I had to get to it.
My father for many years rode horses on our farm, until eventually tractors and bikes took over.
I always wanted a horse, but only got to ride them when I went to visit my Granny and cousins on Sundays, where we spent most of the day riding bare back. They were days filled with laughter and joy.
I finally got to own my very own horse when I was about 13 yrs old. That was a dream come true. She was of no particular breeding, but I rode that horse whenever I could.
Horses faded, as I went to work in the City. In 1990, that changed, as I came back to live at home. From that time on, I bought myself my first Paint mare. Candy was her name. I showed her a few times at halter, before I put her in foal. I later sold her, and bought myself a couple of quarter horse mares. As things do, life changed again, I got married and children arrived, and horses took
backstage.
In the year 2000, while traveling in Australia, we met Kath Peterson, and the legend - Just Shameless. 'Buddy', as he is known to his friends, was & is magnificent. "This is a real horse", is what I said to my husband.
Over the next couple of years I bought several horses from Kath, and during a conversation one day, I said, “if you should ever decide to sell Just Shameless, could you please let me know”. About 7 years on from that first meeting, Kath contacted me and asked if I would like to purchase Just Shameless. This was an opportunity I could not pass up.
I
would like to forward a HUGE THANKYOU to Kath and Peter, at Coronation Park,
for giving us the opportunity to purchase Just Shameless, Bring on the Roses,
and the other mares. It certainly has been more than a dream come true.
From that moment on, Crown Park Stud was born, located approximately one hour north of Auckland City, overlooking the picturesque Kaipara Harbour.
Crown Park Studs dream here in New Zealand is to continue as Kath at Coronation Park is doing, to breed horses that will cross over between halter and performance, without “sacrificing either”.
We want our horses to not just be SHOW CHAMPIONS, but to be versatile, so that they can be your show horse, weekend horse, rodeo mount, or pony club horse. We want to breed beautiful, talented, great minded family horses, for everybody to enjoy.
At Crown Park Stud, we will be Honest in our Reputation, give Truthful Representation, and First Right/Refusal buy back.
